Full Moon in Sagittarius
Focused Precision
The full moon rises in Sagittarius, the zodiac’s final fire sign, on June 14. With arrow nocked, this sign constantly seeks truth with the limitless enthusiasm and boundless expansion of its ruler, Jupiter.
“Sagittarius energy,” says Miraval Austin Astrologer and Tarot Expert Lynn Carroll-Rivera, “is often big and bold and sees the world with an infectious, glass-half-full positivity.”
Named for Chiron, Greek mythology’s half-human, half-horse centaur, Sagittarius has a mutable nature that is adaptable to change. And, the universe reminds us, the only constant is change.
“Sagittarius invites good fortune,” says Lynn, “but this lunation’s luck won’t come from past beliefs or others’ actions. We create it ourselves because no one else will.”
Each newsreel cycles us from celebration to sadness these days. Whether we feel let down or empowered lies in our self-reliance rather than a dependence on others—not a call for blind optimism but a cry for focused precision.
“If systems disappoint,” suggests Lynn, “we can lean into empowerment, engagement, and presence. Instead of escaping, we can transform our helplessness into action.”

Page of Swords
Our corresponding tarot pick for this lunation is a card of quests and tasks.
A woman walks barefoot across a sword stretched over a chasm. She holds an open book and a bouquet of floating lightbulbs in her hands. A thinker and doer, she engages her restless energy and thirst for knowledge with scholarly pursuits. Despite her jeopardy-laden task, she extends her mind to cross the expanse below.
The Page asks us how we synthesize, identify, and open up to reality; how we contemplate the idea that there is more than one universal truth. It asks us how we carry ourselves over pitfalls. Sometimes it requires tightrope-walking on a sword’s edge and asking tough questions to rebel against complacency.
“The Page of Swords,” explains Lynn, “emerges when we discover new ways of thinking. It’s the exploratory phase we pass through before achieving mastery.“
A Softer Light
Saturn and Pluto, both gravity planets, are retrograde, heralding a gradual change and harkening conscious engagement.
“Despite our wishes for a lighthearted, frolicky full moon,” muses Lynn, “it’s mature, sober, and softer—an aftermath kind of moon that arrives in the wake of sharp events and shake-ups.”
If June’s new moon was full of curiosity, then the full moon is about culmination. Mercury stations direct in its own sign of Gemini, returning us to social agility and revealing the present moment’s truth with a clarifying boost of communication.
Investments & Illusions
A square to Neptune makes us reach our own realistic conclusions. “It could mean,” Lynn notes, “that an illusion is being withdrawn.”
This is also a supermoon (full at its orbital point closest to Earth), making it appear up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than other full moons—an optical illusion reminding us that our experience of reality is not precise.
“It’s good to feel uplifted,” cautions Lynn, ”but beware of investing in illusion. Belief means different things to different people, and there’s a lot of polarization in today’s world.”
In other words, faith without self-referral—without relating creed to consciousness—can be dangerous. It’s how separations become craters, and we land on opposite sides of an uncrossable abyss, lost in ideology or rigid systems.
The Cosmos Above the Chasm
Sagittarius is a sign of unified polarities. Chiron doesn’t care about his opposing elements and doesn’t disown or revere his equine or human nature. By accepting duality, he commits to balancing himself through tools (bow and arrow) and intention (open sky). We can follow suit and gather under the cosmos’ unbound potential instead of splitting over the vast chasm of our differences.
Just as Chiron rose above his story to become a shimmering constellation, we can find new ways to shine. Under that sparkling archer, the full moon appears larger than itself, nudging us to appreciate the spectacle while responding to reality’s clarion call.
Bring a full quiver, steady hands, and a commitment to accept the polarities within to ascend to something greater than ourselves. Let’s use this Sagittarius fire to fuse our passions, focus our minds, and cross any gap with the Page’s precision.

Where & When
For the best view, watch the moon rise above the horizon just after sunset on June 14 somewhere with an unobstructed view, like the Great Lawn at Miraval Berkshires. You’ll want to see the moon rise because it appears bigger and brighter when it’s low in the sky than when it’s higher up due to the “Moon Illusion.” You can see when the moon will rise in your area here.
