2020 Miraval Holiday Gift Guide

Give the Gift of Self-Care this Holiday Season

The holiday season is officially upon us, and with it, the search for presents that are the perfect combination of thoughtful yet practical. And what better way to show all those you hold dear (yes, including yourself) your utmost gratitude than with a little self-care encouragement? Whether you treat them to an inspirational book, a deep tissue massage, or a curated box of beauty products, just know that your efforts will be greatly appreciated. After all, this time of year can get pretty hectic  – especially with long work hours, travel delays, and one event after the other  – and sometimes our friends and family members could use a gentle reminder to slow down, relax, and enjoy the moment.

So rise to the occasion like the revitalizing wellness warrior you are and help them kick off the new year on a mindful note with this list of gift ideas!

1.) The Luxury of a Good Read: Encourage your loved ones to carve out some “me” time by carefully selecting a new book for them to get lost in. Whether you decide on a fictional bestseller or one that focuses on real-life experiences (we recommend Wyatt Webb’s book, What To Do, When You Don’t Know What To D0), just make sure it promotes an uplifting message and provides them with a meaningful escape for a couple of hours.

2.) A Day at the Spa: In need of a fresh polish change just as much as you are a quality catch-up session with your friends? You could attempt to squeeze in an appointment at your nearest salon….or you could instead bring the pampering to you by turning your home into a spa oasis and inviting your best friends over for DIY manicures (check out Deborah Lippmann’s limited edition Brand New day polish if you’re looking for a shade that captures the tranquil essence of the Sonoran Desert landscape), facials using sheet masks and top-of-the-line skincare products (our current obsession: EmerginC Hyper Vitalizer Face Cream – it’s so rich and hydrating!), and heart-to-hearts over a cup of prickly pear herbal tea.

3.) The Ultimate Nap: It’s no secret that many people don’t get enough zzz’s on a daily basis and that too many sleepless nights can lead to fatigue, mood swings, and a lack of focus. So how can you help your loved ones zap away the stress and set the intention for a sweet, deep slumber? While this is not the easiest of feats, supplying them with the comforts of a quality nap – including a warm throw blanket and a plush pillow – will undoubtedly encourage some well-deserved rest and is a great starting point.

4.) The Stillness of Meditation: What is self-care without a bit of self-reflection? Treat your loved ones to the gift of inner peace and mindful relaxation by providing them with gift cards to a local yoga studio and/or with the essential tools (some ideas include a guided meditation CD or a Tibetan Singing Bowl to induce meditation) to begin their practice at home. It’s such a wonderful way to nourish someone’s mind, body, and soul!

5.) A Creative Outlet: Recapture the whimsical days of childhood and infuse some carefree joy into someone’s day by signing the two of you up for a pottery class, surprising them with a jewelry-themed crafts project (glitter and feathers and beads…oh my!), and/or slipping a Ben’s Bell Cactus ornament into their stocking this year!

6.) A Weekend Getaway: Is there a particular destination you and your friend’s dream of jetting off to, yet no one has taken the initiative to book the trip? If you answered ‘yes’, then this might be an opportune moment for you to set this dream into motion by taking charge of the situation and motivating the group to join you on an adventure this year. Whether your goal is to hike the Inca Trail, journey around Japan during cherry blossom season, or achieve a sense of balance at Miraval, all it takes is one person to get the ball rolling. Write down a list of reasons as to why you could all use a break, discuss it with your pals, and then agree to hold each other accountable along the journey of turning your dream trip into a reality! (But if that all sounds like too much responsibility to add to your plate right now, you can always express your enthusiasm for wanderlust via a generous gift card or a small contribution to their travel account!)

On that note, we want to hear your thoughts on the gift-giving process: What are some of your favorite gifts to give and to receive? How do you spread good cheer during the winter holidays? Tell us in a comment below!
